Italo Calvino
The writings of Italo Calvino defy classification. They are short but they are fantastic. It is through the visions woven that one can sometimes see clearer. I’ve only read one novel, though the reading of another is always at the tip of my fingers. I have tried reading Il Sentiero dei Nidi di Ragno in Italian, too much a stretch for my lingual-level.
If on a Winter’s Night a Traveler
This book is written by dream, a writer’s dream. Lucid yet cloudy, obvious yet not, almost a treatise to metaphor.
Italian Folk Tales
This thick collection is beautiful. To read them is to become again blessed with the simple-complex innocence of childhood.
