John Steinbeck
During high-school I went through an avid Steinbeck phase. Since then I have picked him up every now and again and have always enjoyed him. Recently my dad has begun devouring his works.
Of Mice and Men, Cannery Row, Tortilla Flat, The Winter of Our Discontent
These are some of the titles I read way back then. I don’t remember much but that I liked them and that they provided enough good fuel for a hefty obsession.
Travels with Charley
This book delighted me. A truck made for travelling, a poodle named Charley and the open road.
East of Eden, Grapes of Wrath
Steinbeck’s master works. To read them one knows why. They invoke the wide-spanning story, depression America, the possibilities and the horrors of human. I wrote about them both simultaneously as I read them back-to-back.
